The Mathematics department welcomes your child to school and hopes that they will enjoy maths lessons with us. It is a fascinating subject with a lot of student involvement; there is satisfaction in learning the routine skills and fun in the offbeat problems.
More routinely it is important that students are well equipped for their lessons. The Mathematics Strategy requires that students increase their mental mathematics skills and their ability to work on pencil-and-paper methods and thus at times we ask students to work like this without other equipment. However students are also required to learn to use a calculator efficiently and effectively to solve more difficult problems or those which cannot be solved by the methods mentioned previously.
