2026 - MAS Environmental Science Y1 trip to Bicton Common and Otterton Mill

October 12th 2026 Year 1 Environmental Science: Bicton Common and River Otter: Optional Trip

An essential part of Environmental Science is gaining first-hand experience in a wide range of fieldwork sampling methods. To meet the requirements of the specification, students need to experience collecting samples in the field and using lab techniques to undertake standardised analysis of the samples. To further develop these areas of skill, we will be visiting Woodbury Common, near Exeter, to undertake vegetative sampling and the River Otter, at Otterton, to take investigate fresh water invertibrates. This trip will require some absence from other subject lessons and will be authorised as an educational visit.
