Warlingham School & Sixth Form College Rag Week 2025
Dear Parent/carer,
I am delighted to announce that the Warlingham School and Sixth Form College annual RAG week will take place from Tuesday 1st April to Friday 4th April 2025
As you may be aware, every year, the Sixth Form organise a series of events over the week to enrich the students' experience of school, and to raise funds and awareness for our chosen charities. These events are still being planned, but we hope to run events such as
Best dressed pet photos - NOT bringing pets into school!
Penalty shootout
Pizza sale
Sweet sale
Guess the teacher from the baby photo
Tug of war
Photobooth
Each event will require cash for participation with prices ranging from 50p - £2
Students have been informed of the details of the events taking place each day in assemblies and there are advertising posters up around the school?
Every year, this week is a huge success in bringing together the school community and raising awareness of some worthy causes. This year, through a vote, the Sixth Form have selected the following charities

Group B Strep (GBS) is a type of bacteria commonly found in healthy adults. While it often doesn't cause harm in adults, it can be dangerous for newborns, potentially leading to serious infections like pneumonia, sepsis, or meningitis. The NHS does not currently offer routine testing for Group B Strep during pregnancy; however, a simple private test can identify if a mother carries Group B Strep, allowing for antibiotics to be given during labour to prevent transmission to the newborn. The charity Group B Strep Support works to raise awareness, provide support for affected families, and advocates for improved testing and treatment options to prevent Group B Strep infections in newborns. They also fund research to improve outcomes and reduce risks associated with the infection. It's especially important to raise awareness for this charity during RAG Week, as I unfortunately had a little sister who tragically passed away from Group B Strep. A simple test and antibiotics could have saved her life, highlighting the critical need for education and better prevention.

YoungMinds is a charity dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of children and young people. It provides support, advice, and resources for young people struggling with mental health issues, as well as guidance for parents, carers, and professionals. The charity campaigns for better mental health services and works to raise awareness about the challenges young people face. We have chosen this charity as a nomination by parents of a late ex-student. As we support the aim to create a world where no young person has to suffer in silence.

As well as supporting our various events, we also welcome general donations into our Wisepay account, which we can then pass on
Thank you for ongoing support and I really hope that we have a successful RAG week, raising lots of funds for our chosen charities.
Yours sincerely,

Rupen Chotai and the Sixth Form Prefect Team
Head of College
