Course Description

Beginners British Canoeing Start Course. In January 2019, British Canoeing Awarding Body launched the new Personal Performance Awards. They replace the existing Paddlepower and Star Awards. The new Paddle and Personal Performance Awards are designed for paddlers wanting to gain recognition of their learning and development, in the craft and environment they choose. This is a great course which allows young people plenty of time to learn and practice new skills and strokes whilst using fun activities and games to further develop skills and confidence. PLEASE NOTE: This course is for children aged between 8 and 14 years. Price includes British Canoeing Certification of Start Award for successful candidates.

The course runs from 9:30 pm to 12:30 pm, with arrival for registration from 9:20 am and collection up until 12:45 pm. We have wetsuits here at the centre that can be used but we recommend bringing a dry change of clothes/shoes for days with wet activities. Please note, footwear must be worn whilst on the water and sandals/flip flops are not suitable. There are water fountains on each floor of the building but children on full-day activities will need to bring a packed lunch and drink/bottle.
