Hadrians Wall Expedition 2024, Fundraiser for Mary's Meals
Hadrians Wall Expedition 2024, Fundraiser for Mary's Meals
Hadrians Wall Expedition 2024, Fundraiser for Mary's Meals
Over the last few years we have raised money for local charities through our Mountain challenge initiatives:

2018 - Three Peaks Challenge (Climbing the highest 3 mountains in the UK), this raised over £7,000
for St
Barnabas.

2019 - Welsh 3000's (climbing the highest mountains in North Wales), raising £6,500 for Guild Care.

2022 - Wainwright Challenge (Highest Mountains in the Lake District), which raised over £8,000 for
Turning
Tides.

2023 - West Highland Way (West Coast of Scotland) and raised £12,000 for Marie-Curie.

We have now set our sights on a new challenge...to take on parts of the Hadrian's Wall trail, an 84-mile route
which makes its way across Northumberland, in order to raise money for a local charity, Mary's Meals.

Mary's Meals, formerly known as Scottish International Relief, is a registered charity which sets up school
feeding programmes in some of the world's poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children
from gaining an education. The promise of a good meal attracts hungry children into the classroom, giving
them the energy to learn and hope for a better future. They are already feeding more than 2.4 million
children every school day ' and together, we can reach the next hungry child waiting for Mary's Meals.

The National Trail passes through some of the most beautiful parts of England, from rolling fields and rugged
borderlands to the historical monuments built over 1500 years ago. The mountain challenge itself will be an
exhausting but memorable feat. Although students will be hiking amongst the most stunning backdrops in
the country; the challenge itself should not be underestimated. This will be a physically challenging
experience, not just because of the total walking distance (approx. 70 miles) or the total height of the range
(approx. 2000m) but because the weather and terrain play of course play their part as well, besides the fact
that this is also an expedition, so students will be staying in tents each evening, adding to the excitement.

The selected group of 20 students and 6 staff will carry out this challenge between Thursday 23rd and
Monday 27th May 2024, and the fundraising is already well underway!

If you could help contribute to this amazing charity, by any means possible, it would be gratefully received.
