Intro to Digital Music Production
This course is an introduction to Digital Music Production and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) techniques .
‘DAW Production Techniques' encompasses the full range of equipment, tools, and techniques used to create
music and sound using a computer.
We'll start off with exploring and becoming comfortable with the DAW environment, how to navigate the
menus and interface, and how to create audio and software instrument tracks.
Then we'll move on to exploring the creative ‘music-making' features of a DAW, such as writing in MIDI
parts, using a MIDI keyboard to play in parts, and also how to work with audio files and tracks. As part of
this, some basic music theory will be covered to support your progress, but it will be all practical focus.
We will also cover some basic mixing techniques and use of effects, so that you can ‘polish' your creations
and make them sound even better.
This course will run for six weeks, twice a year. The first course will be using Logic Pro X, and the second will
focus on Ableton Live software.
This course is half price to any Creative Arts and Media students! This is the ideal course for students
studying Dance, Performing Arts, Media or Games who would like to edit or create their own music for
personal projects.
