Enrichment opportunities are a vital aspect of our musical life at St. Augustine's. We have been proactive in seeking out high quality performance opportunities for the children, and these give the children a real sense of achievement and responsibility, as well as memories that they will treasure.
We do not charge parents for the cost of our Recorder Club and School Choir, and historically we have also subsidised the cost of trips as well.
The School Choir and Recorder Club will remain free for parents, since they are run by members of staff at the school. However, it is no longer possible for us to subsidise the cost of the trips.
Last year, the cost of coaches to Ely Cathedral, Norwich Cathedral, the Norfolk County Music Festival, and Royal Norfolk Show came to a total of £930.
We would expect this cost to rise next academic year as long as inflation continues to be high. In addition to this, it is sometimes necessary to pay for supply teachers to cover staff absence when trips take place during the school day.
Therefore, we have decided to set up a fund to specifically help finance these trips. We have so far raised £250 for next academic year, but anything more you can spare will help to reduce the cost we would need to charge to you if your child were to attend a Choir or other musical trip.
