ELSS Music lessons at 2021-2022

Dear Parent / Guardian,

I write regarding your child the chance to receive weekly peripatetic music lessons at ELSS over the 2021/22 year.

These 1-2-1 lessons (30 minutes), provided by Newham Music Service (NMS), will take place on a day suitable to that particular teacher, with a minimal effect on your child's academic lessons. With the exception of ELSS's ‘Enrichment Fortnight', conferences/visits to lectures, Teacher Inset Days, GCSE Mock exams and all ‘End of Year Examinations', these peripatetic music teachers will be in school, so if any lessons are forgotten or missed due to illness, refunds will not be able to be given. It must also be mentioned that should an instrument need hiring, this will still come at a cost of £63 per annum (£21 per term). NMS, who you would need to contact about such hiring, do not loan out keyboards, guitars or drum kits. Although not obligatory, ELSS encourages and aims to enter as many students as possible for one graded examination over the next year, with such success being down to regular practise.

The price of these lessons will operate on a 50-50 shared cost between ELSS and yourself, resulting in you being required to pay a total of £292.50 for the whole year. This will work out at £97.50 per term, with payment, where possible, expected in advance of each term. Most parents cannot pay in one lump sum, so are now paying the first instalment. In order to guarantee a place for your child, I would urge you to do so, as a priority (mid-September at the latest). Please indicate on the reply slip below which musical instrument you'd like your child to be learning and we will endeavour to try to accommodate. The instruments which NMS offer are piano, guitar, violin (and other orchestral strings), flute, clarinet (and other orchestral woodwind), brass and voice.
