Design and Technology is a STEM subject where students develop technical knowledge and skills through practical experience. They also learn to apply key skills and knowledge acquired in other subjects, particularly Maths, ICT and Science, thereby gaining an understanding of how their learning relates to the types and scales of industrial design and manufacture currently undertaken in the UK. The students enjoy designing and making products using a range of materials and equipment, however, this is expensive and to ensure that we can continue to provide and extend the range materials available for the design and make projects, the Department is asking for contributions to help us maintain the provision.
We understand that some families are simply not in a position to make a contribution in the current situation, therefore we are only asking for a contribution from parents or carers in a position to do so. The contribution can be any amount up to a maximum of £10 towards the cost of materials needed for the projects that students will undertake this year.
