Students in previous years have found that having a personal dictionary have been invaluable in their revision for assessments and it is for this reason that they are strongly recommended.
The dictionaries are recommended as it enables students to refer for meanings of new vocabulary when they are completing homework at home.
There are some dictionaries that are provided by the MFL department when needed for students to use in class. However, many parents have asked the MFL department to recommend a bilingual dictionary as they wish to purchase them to support their child.
Therefore, if you have chosen to purchase the dictionaries for your son/daughter, the purpose of the dictionaries are for use at home and school to aid students' independent learning and preparation for assessments/examinations. Students may also choose to bring them into school and use them when completing French and Spanish work. The department will be recommending to students to have their purchased dictionaries in lessons.
Once purchased the dictionary can be collected from the Front Office.
